Pin Valley National Park

Pin Valley National Park is one of the national parks located at the highest altitude in Spiti Valley and Lahaul district. This national park is home to a rich variety of flora and fauna. It comprises of both rare and endangered species, so many wildlife enthusiasts and adventure lover visit this place to have a glimpse of the rare and endangered wildlife species. Some of the wildlife species of this region include the snow leopard, Himalayan bear, Himalayan ibex, Siberian ibex, Tibetan gazelle, etc. The national park is also famous for bird species which are adapted to cold climatic conditions only. The national park is surrounded by majestic snow covered mountains, and its area is covered with dense forests, green meadows, rivers, deep gorges and glaciers. The Pin River passes through the valleys of this national park. Due to its challenging altitude and rare species of wildlife, the region is most visited by nature lovers, photographers and adventure lovers. Some of the adventure activities include trekking and exploring the forests. The famous trek in this route includes the Pin-Parvati Pass trek, which is one of the difficult treks and suggested for experienced trekkers only. The Pin Valley National Park also has many Buddhist monasteries, which represents the rich cultural heritage of the region, and lets visitors know more about the local culture of the region. This park is an effort to preserve the rich species of rare and endangered wildlife of the region, including the flora.
