Komic village is one of the popular villages in the world, as it is the village situated at the highest altitude with motorable roads. Komic village is situated near Kaza in Spiti Valley; it is situated at a height of around 4587 meters above sea level. From the Komic village, tourists will be able to get glimpses of the surrounding mountain peaks and the rugged valleys.
One of the highlight of this village is that it comprises of the ancient Tangyud Monastery which is an important pilgrimage center for Buddhism. The monastery is located at the tip of the cliff and is built in the form of a castle. The architectural design of the monastery comprises of Buddhism architectural style and the monastery has important ancient manuscripts, murals, painting, artifacts and scriptures.
The people living in the village follow Tibetan Buddhism. The distance of Komic village from Kaza is around 18 km away. The route to the village is adventurous as the road comprises of winding roads, sharp curves and turns, but offering enthralling views of the surrounding villages.
To visit Komic Village the best time is from May to September when the climatic condition is favorable and temperature is mild and the roads are clear and accessible.
To reach Komic Village, travelers will have to take a bus or taxi from Manali to Kaza via the Manali-Leh Highway route; however this route is opened only during the summer season. Also, tourists can take a bus or taxi from Shimla via the Hindustan-Tibet Road (NH-22) route. This route is opened all throughout the year. Once you reach Kaza, Komic village is around a 18 km away.
