The best month to visit Spiti Valley is from late March to June and from September to October. During these months the weather is pleasant to enjoy a favorable road trip to Spiti Valley. The roads are open only during these months. Also, the ideal months for trekking, rock climbing, mountain biking, and other outdoor actvities.

How to Reach Spiti Valley?

To reach Spiti Valley, tourists have to navigate through some of the most challenging roads in the world. In order to reach Spiti Valley, you have to either travel through Manali or through Shimla.

If you are Traveling Through Manali

If you are travelling from Manali, the roads are usually open from May to October, but depend on climatic conditions. The road journey from Manali is 200 km and takes you through Rohtang Pass and Kunzum Pass. Travelers can either take a taxi or local bus or opt for Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC) state government buses which run from Manali to Kaza.
If you are traveleing by air the nearest airport is Bhuntar Air which is around 50 km away from Manali. Once you reach Manali, you can take a taxi, local bus or state government run buses from Manali to Kaza.

If you are Traveling Through Shimla

If you are traveling via Shimla, Spiti Valley is around 450 km away from Shimla. Travelers have to pass through Narkanda – Rampur- Reckong Peo – Nako – Tabo – and finally reaching Kaza. Travelers can either taka a taxi or government run state bus to reach Shimla to Kaza.

If you are planning to take a flight to Shimla, the nearest airport is Shimla Airport which is around 23 km away from Shimla. You can hire a taxi direct to Spiti or take the government run state bus to reach Shimla to Kaza.
